Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Physician Specialist Option C for the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center located in Chicago, Illinois. As a non-administrative Illinois licensed Physician, provides a full range of psychiatric/medical assessments and treatments to patients on an assigned shift. Conducts examinations, makes diagnoses and treats patients. Serves as a member of the treatment team. Answers calls for emergencies. Performs and writes psychiatric evaluations, Evaluates, prepares, and attends court testimony.
Job Responsibilities
As a non-administrative Illinois licensed Physician, provides a full range of psychiatric/medical assessments and treatments to patients on an assigned shift.
Makes periodic and direct evaluation of patient’s general and psychiatric progress and response to treatment and documents same in the medical record, writes physician’s orders.
Serves as a member of the treatment team and as a treatment team leader, coordinates the development of patient treatment plans i.e., review and evaluation of patient’s treatment, discharge planning and milieu recommendations.
Obtains and maintains membership of the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center Medical Staff.
Provides psychiatric guidance to non-psychiatric physicians, other clinicians and nursing staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.
Requires completion of an approved residency in psychiatry.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of professional experience evaluating the quality of specialized medical care and treatment for patients with a mental illness.
Two (2) years of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
Two (2) years of professional experience conducting psychiatric exams of patients.
Two (2) years of professional experience identifying most appropriate positive treatment regime and carrying out that treatment in accordance with best practices.
Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
Two (2) years of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.

Our nurses get to work collaboratively with physicians and act that the go-between for the physician and the patient. You will get to travel to different hospitals and Red Cross sites around the Tucson area . We do the following procedures: plasma exchange, red cell exchange leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, therapeutic phlebotomies, platelet reductions, and white blood cell depletion. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (Key Responsibilities): You will perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in multiple settings including critical care, emergency room, and freestanding outpatient centers. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and access vortex and bard ports. Perform all phases of therapeutic apheresis procedures (plasma exchange, red cell exchange, platelet, and white cell reduction, photopheresis, and hematopoietic progenitor cell collection), to ensure safe and appropriate care of the patient and explain, as needed, the procedures for patients and their family and other attending healthcare professionals. What will you do?

Researching and identifying new referral sources for the resource directories, ensuring that the organization meets the inclusion criteria.
Preparing original drafts of frequently asked questions written in plain language.
Participating as a member of the team in developing materials and publications that are used in responding to public health and medical inquiries, including information packages, resource lists, factsheets, and annotated bibliographies.
Reviewing health-related professional, scientific, and medical journals to draft knowledge base articles and developing new standard language.
Preparing monthly continuing education presentations on topics in the news related to new treatment options, rare diseases, and new resources for health information.
Providing onsite support at professional meetings attended by physicians, nurses, and medical professionals, representing NIH Institutes.

What Qualifications Will Help You Succeed?
B.S. or B.A. degree in a science or health-related discipline. Experience working in public health field a plus.
Bilingual written and verbal Spanish & English language ability is required.
The ability to travel to conferences is required.
Prior experience working in the field of health information or education is highly desired and familiarity with health care terminology a plus.
Experience in using the Internet and resource databases is needed.
Excellent client service skills, dependability, and follow-through.
