Job Description:
The DevOps Engineer will perform activities associated with implementation, integration, and support of computer systems in mission-critical response operation environments.
• Perform programming, code refactoring, systems operations, or design under the supervision of a more senior staff member.
• Use software such as C++, Perl, Python, to implement algorithmically complex information processing projects
• Participate in the implementation of sophisticated and original algorithms and IT systems to process massive data sets
• Support complexity and scalability assessments of existing IT systems, through code analysis and instrumentation and support the identification of opportunities for application of advanced computer science solutions to improve the systems
• Leverage Amazon Web Services to build scalable data infrastructure
• Support efforts to extract intelligence and analytics from a variety of data sources
• Work with technologies such as Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Docker and Swarm
• Design and build data services for consumption by clients and other services
Required Skills:
Bachelors of Science (STEM) or, 5+ years of relevant experience
•Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of full lifecycle engineering projects.
•Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge in one of the following areas:
- UI/UX
- Front end engineering
- API development
- Data engineering
•Must have AWS/Cloud experience
•4+ experience with deploying and maintaining IT development and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Nexus, Jenkins, Gitlab etc)
•4+ years of experience with system administrative scripting. (bash, Python, etc)
Desired Skills:
•AWS Certification (Preferred- AWS Solution Architect)
•Building rich data driven web applications
•Building custom solutions within a micro-service driven IT Infrastructure
•Experience with Scaling systems on AWS
•Database administration (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, ElasticSearch)
•Strong understanding of security concepts including but not limited to firewalls, encryption, identity management, and hardening
•Experience with administration of LDAP
•Experience supporting mission-focused infrastructure to ensure performance and availability of system and environment
