Position:  Benefits Specialist

Reports to:  Director, Total Rewards

Nouria is a rapidly growing retail convenience/gas store operator, quick service food provider, and fuel wholesaler, proudly named C-store Decisions 2022 Convenience Store Chain of the Year.  We operate over 150 convenience stores and 53 car washes throughout New England. We are seeking a motivated Benefits Specialist who can work autonomously and assist with the administration of all benefits. Summary: Nouria’s Benefits Specialist is responsible for online benefit processing and administration, uploading and maintaining personnel records, managing HR documents, unemployment administration and updating Nouria’s HCM. A successful candidate will have experience with HR procedures and can juggle various administrative tasks in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have expertise in leave of absence administration and conforming to appropriate labor laws. This role supports our field employees in managing all administrative aspects of HR and requires engagement, diplomacy, and willingness to interact across all levels of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Administering health and welfare plans, including enrollments and terminations. Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.

· Serve as the COBRA administrator for the company

· Counsel employees on plan provisions so that individuals can make informed benefits decisions

· In conjunction with the Director of Total Rewards, manage the annual open enrollment period each year,

  review summary materials and required notices and assist with communicating changes to employees.

· Assist with the preparation educational materials for health and welfare and 401k plans

· Complete reports for management as requested

· Coordinate and assist with the ACA and ERISA benefits reporting requirements

· Drive wellness-related initiatives

· Act as a liaison with various insurance carriers and foster effective relationships with brokers and other     

  HR vendors

· Act as a resource for payroll/HR contacts to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefits  

  and HR policies and regulations. Keep management advised of potential problem areas and

  recommend/implement solutions as appropriate

· Process unemployment-related requests and maintain related records. Liaison with unemployment TPA

· Perform HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance.  Experience with Workday HCM preferred.

· Maintain confidential personnel files and actions

· Prepare government reports related to EEO compliance or other HR functions

· Serve as front-line telephone contact for HR, involves routing callers to HR Centers of Excellence

· Experience with, or the desire to learn, compensation-related tasks considered a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

·

· Experience working with a remote workforce, field, retail, or multi-unit environment is a plus

· Proven experience as a Benefit Administrator or relevant role

· Experience with HR software (HCM); Workday preferred

· Computer literacy (MS Office applications, in particular)

· Thorough knowledge of benefits regulations

· Excellent organizational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects

· Strong phone, email and in-person communication skills

· High School diploma is a must; BA / BS in Human Resources or relevant field a plus

Salary

Range: 65,000 to 75,000 per annum
