Position Overview
The Executive Director is the Association’s executive staff administrator and management agent who leads the staff, in coordination with the KNEA President, to ensure the implementation of the full scope of policies, procedures, and programs approved and adopted by the KNEA Board of Directors. In collaboration with the President and Officers, the Executive Director develops and manages an Operational Plan and an annual Operational Budget and is accountable to the Board for the long-term financial and fiscal health and sustainability of the Association.
Candidates should possess high emotional intelligence, excellent judgment, and creativity, with a proven record of strategic leadership, which includes formulating objectives and priorities and implementing the long-term interests of KNEA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Institutional Leadership - lead with vision, adaptability, creativity, and integrity to execute the policies of the KNEA Board of Directors.
Corporate Management - advise and facilitate the development of the KNEA Operational Plan, Operational Budget, administer and monitor the budget, ensure the fiscal health of the Association, oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, evaluate and manage risk, and ensure the proper management of all property owned and leased by the Association as KNEA pursues its mission and vision.
Public Education Advocacy – champion public education in Kansas, including building collaborative relationships between KNEA and external stakeholders to shape the highest professional standards for education policy.
Organizing – foster an organizing culture that grows the Association while advancing the interests of Kansas’s students and educators.
Staff Relations – as executive of staff, provide leadership for staff commitment to the Association’s mission, vision, and strategic plan; ensure compliance with KNEA’s policies; prioritize and assign staff resources to programs and projects as necessary; coordinate, direct, and evaluate the work of KNEA’s employees while fostering a collegial relationship; build effective relationships with management and the staff unions; and successfully support management and staff to ensure the highest quality work on behalf of KNEA’s members.

SALARY STATEMENT: Starting salary is $74,009 (non-negotiable). Faculty may be eligible to advance every other year; current top step is $104,250. POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach information literacy skills to students through a coordinated effort of online and face-to-face instruction, including creating online learning tools.
Provide online and face-to-face reference services to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Participate in continuing development of the library website.
Participate in information literacy assessment activities.
Perform collection development for print and electronic resources.
Participate in equitable decision-making processes by taking part in library, college, and Orbis Cascade Alliance consortium committees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Master's degree in Library Science (MLS, MSLS, MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institute.

SALARY STATEMENT: Starting salary is $74,009 (non-negotiable). Faculty may be eligible to advance every other year; current top step is $104,250. Salary is for a 173-day contract; additional compensation is available for summer and moonlight teaching, and doctoral and vocational stipends. Please note the salary may be adjusted for the 2024-2025 year pending the legislatively funded cost-of-living. SCOPE OF WORK
The COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA) Program Director of Operations is responsible for achieving program objectives by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CERA program and managing the CERA team. This position requires continued implementation of program procedures, policies, workflows and thorough knowledge of Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) program policies, procedures, rules and regulations and the ability to make decisions independently using this knowledge and experience. In addition, the ability to lead and direct the CERA team is vital to the successful operation of the CERA program.
ESSENTAIL FUNCTIONS
Provide strategic vision and strong leadership while collaborating with the external operations director and directing the program.
Build and lead a strong team through open communication and by collaborating on decision-making responsibilities.
Provide daily supervision and guidance to designated team members.
Provide supplemental supervision and guidance to all other team members as needed.
Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and CERA program regulations and guidelines including oversight of reporting requirements or audit requests as determined by MSHDA or the fiduciary.
Implement and maintain MOU between the organization and the additional community partners.
Continue implementation and assessment of the administration the CERA program to completion, making process improvement adjustments as needed.
Maintain effective systems/processes to facilitate program administration.
Collaborate with the executive team to assess and manage risk.
Periodically evaluate the effectiveness of the Program’s policies, workflow, and systems.
Create and monitor the CERA budget, working with the Finance Department, to ensure that the program is on track with spending over the course of the program term.
Collaborate with team members to continually assess work systems that ensure productive team members.
Oversee reports related to data quality and service provision, including outcomes.
Provide technical assistance with stakeholders to include MSDHA, the Alliance and community partners, landlords, court administrators, Lakeshore Legal Aid, MSHDA and additional community partners and local, state and federal agencies.
Monitor and identify needs to improve quality of service provision and streamline systems for efficiencies.
