DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position serves within the Bureau of Recreation and Conservation, Community Parks and Conservation Division - Community Parks and Recreation Section. In this role, you will apply an equity lens to the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the Parks and Recreation Equity Program to foster equity in both process and outcomes. Work includes developing and recommending statewide goals, objectives, and priorities; developing and recommending program parameters, policies, procedures, and guidelines; ensuring program consistency with any applicable state and federal requirements; and conducting evaluations of the program and preparing reports of findings and recommendations. This position manages state and federal grants for recreation and conservation planning, development, and implementation of statewide projects and special initiatives. In addition, this position also provides technical assistance, outreach, and education to support the program and Bureau Mission.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Recreation and Conservation Advisor 2 (commonwealth title); or
  • Three years of professional experience in parks, recreation, or natural resource conservation administration, planning, or development; and a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, landscape architecture, environmental sciences, city, regional, urban, or environmental planning, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
