We are looking to hire a full-time temporary Keeper I to join the Mammal and Bird Team at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium for a fixed term of October 2024-January 2025. This position will be responsible for the daily care of the Aquarium’s diverse collection of mammals and birds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleaning and maintenance of equipment, supplies, animal habitats, and support spaces associated with the mammal and bird collections.
Monitoring and maintaining appropriate environmental parameters for terrestrial habitats.
Providing high-level animal care and nutrition to animals within the endotherms collection.
Monitoring and assisting in responding to signs of illness/injury, stress, or other factors that may impact animal health and wellbeing.
Maintaining all necessary records and reviewing those records regularly in support of ensuring excellent animal care.
Responsible for supporting institutional and industry best practice standards and procedures.
Supports excellent animal wellbeing through providing enriching environments\interactions and behaviors supporting animal health.
Mentoring and training colleagues in areas of expertise to expand team skillsets.
Experience and Qualifications:
Two or four-year degree in zoological or biological sciences. Candidates with a suitable combined equivalent of education and hands-on experience will be considered.

The ES assigned to logistics will handle day-to-day scheduling operations of school outreach and field trip programs. They are the primary communicator between LLPA and schools.
The ES assigned to content development will write interpretive signs, develop curriculum, and review and create other educational content. They will keep up with innovative best practices in the field of informal learning and interpretation.
The ES assigned to volunteers will maintain and expand the volunteer program in the Education Department. They will recruit, train, and evaluate Education volunteers.
The ES position does not include supervision of any employee or volunteer.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience required. Degree in education, communication, museum studies, non-profit management, or a related field strongly preferred.

Position: Aquarium Educator, Part-time
Reports to: Education Assistant Manager
Position Summary:
The Aquarium Educator’s role is critical to delivering our mission at the Aquarium and throughout Utah. While at the Aquarium, an Educator’s primary responsibility is to enhance the guest experience with high quality interpretive experiences throughout our galleries and education spaces. Educators will interact with Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) visitors of all ages and backgrounds to provide inspiring personal engagements and activities or more formal presentations, demonstrations and learning stations. Educators also deliver science education programs to Pre-K – high school students throughout the state and perform a variety of programs both on-grounds at the Aquarium and offsite as assigned.
Educators report directly to Education Assistant Managers. Educators collaborate with assistant managers, managers, and their peer educators to improve interpretation skills and techniques. Educators are required to provide a variety of learning and engagement opportunities for Aquarium guests to enhance their visit.
Education and experience :
Associate’s degree, or two years of completed college credits towards a degree in biology, zoology, marine science, environmental science, education, or a related field is required
Bachelor's degree in biology, zoology, marine science, environmental science, education, or a related field is preferred
Experience interacting with children, small groups and/or large audiences, and the ability to adapt programs to audience age level and size is required
