What you will do:
In collaboration with Ocean Shore Coordinator identifies, coordinates, reviews, recommends, and facilitates corrective actions on ocean shore, in order to protect natural, scenic, and cultural resources in all seven coastal counties. Coordinates all ocean shore violation remedies and permit activities with tribes, private landowners, city, council, state and federal agencies as required. In collaboration with Ocean Shore Coordinator, reviews, recommends and issues ocean shore permits including: Alteration Projects, Natural Product Removal, Special Use Permits, Motor Vehicle/ATV Drive on Beach, Beach Salvage, and Scientific Collection & Research Permits. Attending meetings to determine conditions and mediate conflicts factoring in regional needs, protecting important natural/cultural resources from human caused impacts.
Minimum Qualifications:
(a) A Bachelor's degree in relevant land use planning or natural resource conservation or management related to marine or ocean resources; AND three years of experience in land use planning, natural resource regulation, or ocean shore or marine resources conservation, management and protection. At least one year of the experience must be at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities.
OR
(b) Three additional years of related (pertinent) experience can substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.
OR
(c) A Master's degree in ocean shore or marine resources conservation, management and protection or natural resource program area will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.
OR
(d) A Doctorate degree in ocean shore or marine resources conservation, management and protection or natural resource program area will substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
