THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION

Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks’ Aquatics Division is seeking dependable and qualified individuals to fill these non-civil service, seasonal/temporary Swimming Pool Operator positions for our upcoming 2023 Pool Season to begin in May of 2023 and end in August of 2023.

Employees may work between 20-40 hours per week.

*This position may be eligible for a $500.00 seasonal bonus.

Position Description

The selected candidates may oversee the daily activities of a small public swimming pool, which can include supervising Lifeguards and Pool Attendants, training lifeguards in pool safety, investigating and reporting pool accidents to superiors, operating pool filtration system and testing pool for water purity, recommends new procedures for controlling swimmers & improving working conditions, cleans pool facilities & grounds, performs pool maintenance, prepares maintenance reports and other related duties as required.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements

Requirements – Minimum Age 17 (A work permit issued by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation is required for those under the age of 18.) Two years experience as a Lifeguard.

Required Certifications – Certified Pool Operator, Life-guarding, First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for Professional Rescuers issued by the American Red Cross or an equivalent certification.

NOTE: This is a position of Trust. Those eligible that are under final consideration for appointment will be required to authorize the release of Federal & State criminal conviction information, a Child Protective Services Check and submit to drug and alcohol testing.
