The Transportation & Environmental Services Department is inviting qualified individuals to apply for our Civil Engineer IV position in the Sanitary Infrastructure Division. This position will help to implement programs at reducing infiltration and inflow in sanitary sewers, along with coordinating the development of a robust asset management program that covers over 240 miles of sanitary and combined sewer. The successful candidate will manage a small team of civil engineers and shall provide guidance, mentoring and technical expertise to this team. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong technical background in civil engineering, experience in managing project and/or program budgets, along with strong time management skills and ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Work is performed with considerable independence and independent judgement, while ensuring compliance with City policies and procedures.

Minimum & Additional Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in civil Engineering or other related field and eight (8) years of experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess, or obtain within six months of employment, a license to practice as a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications
To be considered a preferred applicant, candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience related to sanitary sewer collection systems and experience related to infiltration and inflow in sanitary sewer systems or asset management of sanitary infrastructure.
