Job Description

We are looking for a relentless, content-obsessed news leader to serve as our Senior Content Manager for our First Alert brand. This role is laser-focused on driving the stories that define our First Alert brand across every platform, all day long. You will shape reporter pitches, push for urgency, guide content from idea to publication, and respond BIG when breaking news demands it. You are the connective tissue between reporters in the field, producers in the booth, and audiences on TV, streaming, web, and social.

Evaluate reporter story pitches daily — push, redirect, or elevate based on First Alert standards and viewer impact. Challenge every story to answer: "Why does this matter to viewers right now?" — with a focus on safety, security, and community impact. React fast and decisively to breaking news — pivot coverage, redirect reporters, and drive urgency across all platforms simultaneously. Monitor developing stories throughout the day; ensure follow-up coverage adds new, urgent information — not repetition. Think for all platforms — TV, streaming, web, and social — and get news to where the audience is in real time. Guide reporters from pitch to script, pushing for bold writing, urgent language, and crystal-clear storytelling. Work closely with producers to shape dynamic, audience-first newscasts. Apply strong editorial judgment and journalistic ethics to every content decision. Research and plan for future news events; anticipate stories before they break.

Experience as a content leader in a newsroom, whether as a senior producer, E.P., digital content manager, senior reporter, anchor/producer, or assignment manager. Proven instincts for breaking news and a track record of aggressive, multi-platform coverage. Strong news judgment and editorial ethics. Comfortable coaching reporters and collaborating across the newsroom. Fluent across all platforms — TV, streaming, web, and social are equally important to you. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred. Valid driver's license preferred. This is a full-time dayside position, but flexibility is important. It could include evenings, weekends, and holidays as the news demands.
