POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Specialist assists with workshop facilitation, volunteer support, program evaluation and other implementation activities of wellness programs, to promote the well-being, health and independence of older adults served in senior centers and other community locations. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Actively supporting program implementation in targeted communities, participation by targeted populations, and engagement of community partners.
Identify new implementation sites and coordinate activities with site directors. Give presentations to community groups on SCS wellness programs and organized events, meetings, and conferences.
Assists with volunteer recruitment, training support, and evaluate volunteer activities to engage and retain volunteers. Report volunteer activity and assist with special volunteer meetings, projects, and recognition events.
Create/update agency presentations and promote programs to maximize participation.
Complete and submit program tracking and evaluation documents as required to ensure quality services, goal attainment, and client confidentiality.
Evaluate and improve program materials, supplies, and practices to enhance participation and understanding.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Some college required. Degree preferred. A degree in Gerontology, Social Sciences, Public Health, or Health Education/Promotion preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Experience working with diverse individuals, groups, demonstrated enthusiasm, and commitment to healthy living. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills; abilities to facilitate groups, educate adults, and work with volunteers and partnering agencies; ability to implement program procedures; able to perform under direct supervision and independently, and possess good time management. Must possess or attain required program-specific certifications, including for A Matter of Balance and Stanford’s Chronic Disease Self Management Programs, and maintain them annually. Certificates, licenses, registrations Must have own transportation, a valid Texas drivers license, and be willing to use personal automobile for agency business.
