YOUR OPPORTUNITY
The Open Wing Alliance (OWA), a program of The Humane League, is a global coalition of 90+ animal protection organizations united in a common goal: to end the abuse of chickens worldwide. For the past several years, we have focused our efforts on eliminating battery cages by securing cage-free policies from major retailers, restaurants, and manufacturers. We specialize in institutional campaigning, a strategic approach that can be tailored to our members’ unique circumstances and challenges. It also pays off; in the past year alone, OWA groups secured 23 global cage-free policies and over 160 regional cage-free policies.
As the Digital Campaign Action Specialist, known internally as the Global Campaign Mobilization Specialist, you play an integral role in supporting global and regional campaigns through the management of the action app, a web-based application which enables supporters to take digital campaign actions. You will work closely with the Global Campaigns team to set up impactful actions that contribute to campaign victories, and you will develop and carry out a plan for mobilizing supporters around the world, including regional segmentation and supporter-building initiatives. You will also lead, train, and support OWA members in their use of the action app.
You are ideal for this position because you have excellent technology skills and attention to detail, which will enable you to effectively leverage our in-house advocacy platforms. You are familiar with social media and possess the organization and communication skills needed to mobilize OWA member organizations. This position reports directly to the Senior Global Corporate Campaigns Manager.
This is a temporary, full-time, remote position . The temporary hire will provide coverage while a permanent staff member is on leave. Employment is expected to begin on approximately July 1st, 2024 and end on approximately July 31st, 2025. The duration of employment may be extended or shortened at The Humane League’s discretion. This position requires domestic and international travel for OWA summits and staff retreats; this is equivalent to approximately 2-4 week-long trips per year.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Act as a liaison between Global Campaigns and other departments to establish digital engagement goals and strategies.
REQUIRED SKILLS
One year of experience working in pressure campaigns, grassroots organizing, social media management, and/or communications.
Attention to detail and organization: Excellent attention to detail needed to accurately set up and monitor digital actions and manage multiple overlapping projects with different timelines and many moving pieces. Able to manage time effectively, develop organized systems and schedules, and accommodate last-minute changes.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this role is $61,927 - $75,689 USD . At The Humane League, we believe in maintaining a fair and equitable work environment for all employees. The Multnomah County Department of Community Justice Juvenile Services Division strives to be a National Model for Juvenile Justice where integrity, commitment, leadership, diversity, inclusion, and compassion are the foundation. The essential functions of this position include:
Oversight, supervision, and leadership to the Restorative Practice Team and Assessment and Evaluation Program
Direct the managers who lead the day-to-day operations of the Assessment and Evaluation (A&E), Courtyard Cafe, and Restorative Services programs.
For the A&E Program, this includes ensuring adherence to Behavioral Rehabilitation Services (BRS) standards as set forth by Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and reviewed by regular audits.
Supervision of staff that includes:
Supervision of two A&E Managers and the A&E Program
Supervision of the Courtyard Cafe Manager and Nutrition Services Program
Supervision of the Restorative Practices Program
Manage 20% of JSD’s FTEs.
Establishes expectations and provides employee performance feedback.
Create a positive work environment and employ a strength-based approach to supervising staff.
Respond to and resolve confidential and sensitive inquiries; investigate complaints and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
Develop and coordinate professional staff development.
Development and management of the budget, contract monitoring, purchasing and accounting functions
Develop justifications and make budgetary recommendations to the DCJ Executive Team for the $6.1 million (approx.) of the JSD budget that they will be responsible for.

Forecasts and projects expenditure/revenue impacts and reallocates resources as necessary.

Program development, planning, coordination, and implementation
Lead in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices for improved outcomes.
Monitors employee compliance with policy and procedure and keeps JSD Director advised of staff issues.
Set goals and objectives for the unit in alignment with the Department’s overall mission and vision.
Continuously review and evaluate the quality of services provided by individual work teams.
Provide leadership, strategy, and advice, driving the programmatic work of the Restorative Practices team.
The Restorative Practices team includes the Hands of Wonder garden, Detention restorative practice coordinator, and Court and Community Services restorative practice coordinator.
The programmatic work includes developing and implementing restorative practice training programs, designing and facilitating, restorative circles or meetings, creating policies and procedures for restorative approaches, evaluating the effectiveness of restorative interventions, and collaborating with other internal and external stakeholders to promote restorative practices.
Provide leadership for interagency collaborations that will improve policies and procedures to better youth and families impacted by the Juvenile Justice system.
Research evidence based practices related to subject matter expertise, including topics on trauma, cultural responsivity, and reducing overrepresentation of marginalized populations in the Juvenile Justice system.

The Department of Community Justice (DCJ) is recognized as a national leader in both adult and juvenile community justice. DCJ routinely consults and makes use of evidence-based practices in our program and policy development. The Department's commitment to data-informed decision-making has led DCJ to make smart investments of taxpayer dollars in supervision, sanctions, and services for the county's highest risk and highest need justice-involved individuals. DCJ makes long-term investments in its employees through the provision of education and training. The essential functions of this position include:
Oversight, supervision, and leadership to the Restorative Practice Team and Assessment and Evaluation Program
Direct the managers who lead the day-to-day operations of the Assessment and Evaluation (A&E), Courtyard Cafe, and Restorative Services programs.
For the A&E Program, this includes ensuring adherence to Behavioral Rehabilitation Services (BRS) standards as set forth by Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and reviewed by regular audits.

Supervision of two A&E Managers and the A&E Program
Supervision of the Courtyard Cafe Manager and Nutrition Services Program
Supervision of the Restorative Practices Program
Manage 20% of JSD’s FTEs.

Qualifications Required

America Votes is seeking a talented staff or project manager and mid-senior campaign strategist for a full-time position as Arizona Deputy State Director. Annual Planning and Strategy:

YOUR IMPACT
Execute media, public relations, and communications strategies for It’s On Us, The Change Collective, and Civic Nation’s campaigns.
Create, write, edit, and send press releases, talking points, op-eds, advisories and other written materials.
Manage media outreach and pitching and landing stories that reach the initiative's target audiences.
Work directly with the EVP of Communications to develop campaign strategies and action plans, and ensure initiatives are prioritizing equity and inclusion.
Work closely with initiative and campaign staff to understand the full scope of their work and help them meet strategic communications goals.
Respond to incoming media inquiries, prepare initiative leaders, and follow up with reporters.
Partner with digital, partnerships, talent, and other teams around rollouts.
Work on large and smaller scale events with stakeholders, thought leaders, media, etc.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
4+ years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, or press management; primarily with advocacy, social justice, policy, and/or a political focus.
Strong writing skills with the ability to distill information in a way that is accessible to students, administrators, and our general audience.
A track record of getting results in a fast-paced communications environment, balancing multiple projects on tight deadlines.
Newsroom, political, agency, and/or nonprofit experience is preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Provides strategic vision for a broad range of employee benefits programs, ensuring alignment with the College’s mission and strategic plan. Administers state PEBA employee insurance and retirement benefit programs for the College. Partners with PEBA and authorized vendors to facilitate benefits services and options for employees, advocating for enhancements as needed. Ensures that employees receive timely, accurate and professional assistance with their benefits needs. Interprets and communicates all provisions of PEBA insurance programs and retirement system rules and regulations. Stays abreast of changes and ensures that employees are made aware of all benefits available to them and any changes that occur. Provides sound advice and training to College supervisors on benefits policies and procedures, resolves benefits problems and maintains consistent application of benefits practices campus-wide. Keeps benefits website updated on a regular basis. Provides sound advice and guidance to the Vice President of Human Resources regarding new or revised state or federal benefits related laws and regulations that affect the College. Ensures benefits policies, procedures, programs, and practices are in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Notifies employees of options and advises employees regarding changes during open enrollment.

Creates and maintains all benefit payroll deduction tables. Creates and distributes annual 1095C forms. Establishes employee and/or employer access to PEBA self-service benefits portals. Develops, formats and tests tables for benefits links in Self Service Banner ( SSB ). Participates in testing for system upgrades, patches, and enhancements. Creates and establishes new codes for benefits and deductions as needed. Responsible for ensuring that all PEBA insurance bills or other third-party vendor bills are reconciled and paid on time. Makes necessary corrections with the vendor or in the system. Notifies employees of changes to their deductions or benefits. Receives and deposits premium payments for employees on leave without pay.
