Job Description CJNRC is seeking a Communications Strategist II to join our Communications Department. The Communications Strategist II will be primarily responsible for developing and executing earned media strategy to advance a pro-worker narrative on climate and promote union-led climate jobs campaigns, perspectives, and priorities. Description of Duties, including but not limited to:
Develop and implement comprehensive press plans to promote climate jobs campaigns, initiatives, and priorities;
Serve as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries;
Support a network of union-led coalitions, working collaboratively with unions and leaders to develop earned media and communications plans for state and local campaigns;
Write and distribute press memos and backgrounders, releases, advisories, and other communications materials, translating dense policy concepts into digestible messaging that resonates with press and the general public;
Pitch stories to reporters, producers, and editors to secure favorable coverage (TV, radio, online and print);
Cultivate, maintain and expand relationships with key journalists, editors, bookers, opinion leaders, and others who regularly cover climate, clean energy, and labor issues in national, regional and local outlets;
Prepare spokespeople for interviews and public appearances, including drafting talking points and providing formal media training and informal prep sessions prior to each interview or event;
Monitor relevant trends and developments in media and culture, and identify opportunities and suggest strategies for positioning unions and climate jobs coalitions in the field;
Monitor relevant media coverage and provide daily reports to CJNRC leadership;
Perform other duties and special projects as needed;
Occasional travel for events and campaigns.

A strong commitment to progressive social change, racial justice, a familiarity with the issues that are central to CJNRC’s work and vision;
Minimum four years of experience in media relations or journalism; preferably for a labor union or allied advocacy organization;
Successful track record of developing and executing communications strategies and campaigns in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment;
Strong experience in media and press strategy including print, broadcast and digital;
Experience in advocacy and organizing is preferred;
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate professionally under pressure with a team mentality;
Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and verbal communication skills with sharp attention to detail;
Strong verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively;

Chispa, a program of LCV, works to ensure that Latine communities and leaders have a strong voice in the movement for climate justice and within the environmental movement and influence the environmental policies and decisions that impact our health and environment. Based in the Community & Civic Engagement department, Chispa has programs in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, and Texas.
LCV is hiring a Chispa Federal Climate Organizers in Corpus Christi, Texas who will help create and implement their Chispa state program’s federal organizing strategies. The Chispa Federal Climate Organizer will be experienced community organizers who is tasked with engaging and building relationships with Latine families in Nueces/San Patricio Counties, TX to take action in the fight against pollution, climate change, environmental racism and to promote clean air, clean water, clean jobs, clean energy and other federal campaigns. This position will be part of a dynamic, skilled, and growing data-driven organizing team, working closely with the Chispa Texas state teams, Chispa national team, and community members and leaders to ensure that communities are civically engaged and are part of the decision-making process that impacts their health and environment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about the fight for climate justice and ready to take action to hold polluters accountable and advocate for community driven solutions to address climate change and environmental racism.
Responsibilities:
Organize, manage and lead successful issue campaigns that engage with Latinx families in their state around issues of climate change and environmental justice, among other priority issues.
Take the lead in managing education efforts for federal issue campaigns that engage community members.
Build, develop and train a base of dedicated Latinx grassroots leadership in the community that will have a long-term leadership voice advocating for environmental justice, community health policies and values in the community.
Identify potential new members and engage them by conducting one-on-one’s, presentations, and door-knocking and utilizing other community organizing methods.
Support volunteer leaders in the development and sustaining of organizing committees who are involved in advancing campaign goals.
Build relationships with schools, churches, community organizations, labor unions, public health groups, etc. to work in partnerships to advance shared goals.
Track organizing work meticulously in Voter Action Network and other databases, submit reports to the Chispa state Program Director.
Work closely with the organizing team and other departments to implement and evaluate issue-organizing campaigns that successfully recruit constituents, build grassroots leaders and get the attention of decision makers and media.
Work closely with Chispa staff and members to grow our grassroots organizing efforts in communities impacted by environmental injustices.
Work with the Chispa, Communications and Digital, Campaigns and Government Affairs teams to plan and implement decision maker meetings, briefings and advocacy trainings related to federal issues that impact communities in Texas, as needed.
Travel up to 10% of the time in-state and out-of-state for organizing activities and staff retreats and conferences, as needed.
Conduct in-office responsibilities and events, including meetings with the state Chispa team, external partners and key stakeholders, from the state Chispa office at least 4 days per week.
Qualifications:
Work Experience : Required – Minimum 3 years in grassroots community, issue or labor organizing programs. Successful track record of grassroots community organizing, training volunteers, leadership development, implementing strategies and tactics, and forming alliances with other groups. Preferred – Experience working with Voter Action Network and Google Suites. Experience organizing in Texas.
Skills : Required – Ability to effectively work as part of a team and in community. Ability to effectively present campaigns and programs to the community, elected officials and allies in an effective way. LCV is hiring a Chispa Federal Climate Organizers in Corpus Christi, Texas who will help create and implement their Chispa state program’s federal organizing strategies. The Chispa Federal Climate Organizer will be experienced community organizers who is tasked with engaging and building relationships with Latine families in Nueces/San Patricio Counties, TX to take action in the fight against pollution, climate change, environmental racism and to promote clean air, clean water, clean jobs, clean energy and other federal campaigns. This position will be part of a dynamic, skilled, and growing data-driven organizing team, working closely with the Chispa Texas state teams, Chispa national team, and community members and leaders to ensure that communities are civically engaged and are part of the decision-making process that impacts their health and environment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about the fight for climate justice and ready to take action to hold polluters accountable and advocate for community driven solutions to address climate change and environmental racism.
Responsibilities:
Organize, manage and lead successful issue campaigns that engage with Latinx families in their state around issues of climate change and environmental justice, among other priority issues.
Take the lead in managing education efforts for federal issue campaigns that engage community members.
Build, develop and train a base of dedicated Latinx grassroots leadership in the community that will have a long-term leadership voice advocating for environmental justice, community health policies and values in the community.
Identify potential new members and engage them by conducting one-on-one’s, presentations, and door-knocking and utilizing other community organizing methods.
Support volunteer leaders in the development and sustaining of organizing committees who are involved in advancing campaign goals.
Build relationships with schools, churches, community organizations, labor unions, public health groups, etc. to work in partnerships to advance shared goals.
Track organizing work meticulously in Voter Action Network and other databases, submit reports to the Chispa state Program Director.
Work closely with the organizing team and other departments to implement and evaluate issue-organizing campaigns that successfully recruit constituents, build grassroots leaders and get the attention of decision makers and media.
Work closely with Chispa staff and members to grow our grassroots organizing efforts in communities impacted by environmental injustices.
Work with the Chispa, Communications and Digital, Campaigns and Government Affairs teams to plan and implement decision maker meetings, briefings and advocacy trainings related to federal issues that impact communities in Texas, as needed.
Travel up to 10% of the time in-state and out-of-state for organizing activities and staff retreats and conferences, as needed.
Conduct in-office responsibilities and events, including meetings with the state Chispa team, external partners and key stakeholders, from the state Chispa office at least 4 days per week.
Qualifications:
Work Experience : Required – Minimum 3 years in grassroots community, issue or labor organizing programs. Successful track record of grassroots community organizing, training volunteers, leadership development, implementing strategies and tactics, and forming alliances with other groups. Preferred – Experience working with Voter Action Network and Google Suites. Experience organizing in Texas.
Skills : Required – Ability to effectively work as part of a team and in community. Ability to effectively present campaigns and programs to the community, elected officials and allies in an effective way. Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment. America Votes Georgia is seeking a talented staff or project manager and mid-senior campaign strategist for a full-time position as Deputy State Director. The Georgia Deputy State Director plays a key role in the work to grow the state coalition and coordinate strategies between state and national partners. The Deputy State Director works to advance the progressive movement in the state, responsible for the year-round coordination and alignment of electoral, organizing, advocacy and policy work among partners and allies. America Votes Georgia is seeking a talented staff or project manager and mid-senior campaign strategist for a full-time position as Deputy State Director. The Georgia Deputy State Director plays a key role in the work to grow the state coalition and coordinate strategies between state and national partners. The Associate Partner for Mobilization will be on the front line of our work to build a movement to eliminate nuclear weapons globally. RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning Leadership –Support coalition partners through the development of campaign plans (electoral, voting rights, and issue campaigns), providing technical and organizing assistance, responding to programmatic requests, and participating actively.
Coalition Coordination - Manage strategic political and movement relationships on behalf of America Votes to advance alignment in the progressive ecosystem. Plan and facilitate regular coalition meetings for organizations to create and share plans as well as progress toward goals; identify problems and new opportunities toward winning elections and advancing advocacy goals. Provide leadership in the state with the development, implementation, and analysis of state campaign plans, with an emphasis on direct voter contact programs.
Campaign Leadership - Facilitate innovative and creative solutions to challenges related to electoral and issue campaigns, short- and long-term campaign planning, and capacity building. Facilitate ongoing conversations and collective actionable steps toward equity in the work of the coalition and partner members.
Project Management - Support the state director in implementing America Votes’ organizational goals. Support team creation of work plans and team benchmarks for success. Manage special projects to deliver on team goals.
Partner Campaign Support - Advocate for partner organizations and elevate quality programs in the state, assist organizations in identifying potential resources, and move resources to partner groups whenever possible. Lead, organize, and facilitate coordinated and/or collaborative partner events, including coalition meetings, training and direct voter contact activities. Develop and execute training curriculums to advance the partner's program, as well as create and organize resources.
Program Implementation - Develop capacity-building opportunities for partners and work directly with the State Director and state team to assess program gaps and overlaps to maximize program impact. Coaching and troubleshooting for high-level campaign staff. Support program implementation through the voter file and other related tools including basic VAN administration.
Product Creation - Lead and support the creation and development of written reports and products to tell the story of Pennsylvania and support the coalition. Lead the development of content for reports and presentations for a diverse audience of stakeholders. Deliver presentations to stakeholders, sometimes on short timelines.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Ideal candidates will have a minimum 6-8 years experience in progressive political campaigns, progressive non-profits (with an organizing focus) or similar transferable experience and three years’ project management or staff management experience, including a track record of fostering a collaborative environment and consistent feedback. Strong sense of ownership and resilience with respect to planning ahead, finding alternative paths when needed, and bouncing back from setbacks and rejections.
Experience building campaign strategies, preferably electoral, including having responsibility for planning, implementation, and program analysis at a statewide level. The College of Lake County is currently looking for a Marketing Manager to join the Public Relations & Marketing Department. Reporting to the Director of Public Relations and Marketing, this position is responsible for the creation, execution, management and optimization of marketing strategies to build awareness, drive interest and increase enrollments for all targeted programs. The position leads a team of marketing strategists, works cross-functionally across the college and continuously innovates to build genuine connections that help enhance the CLC brand. Researcher, cultivator and maintenance of digital audiences.
Internal educator on digital marketing and social media best practices
Leads efforts with digital marketing campaigns including SEO, Google analytics, Google Ad words.
Oversees social media channels, customer service, content creation and social listening.
Strategize and execute all paid social media campaigns.
Analyzes web traffic to inform decision making.
In partnership with director of PR and Marketing, strategy and execution lead on marketing plans for college-wide and one-off plans for internal clients.
Create and develop marketing strategies and integrated marketing plans to build awareness, drive interest and drive goal completion.
Makes interpretive decisions that translate programs established by senior leadership into operational plans and schedules.
Makes process decisions concerned w/the selection of a process for accomplishing the work (subordinates).
Helps develop department P & Ps and process maps.
Partners w/external clients (i.e. Tech Campus, high school PIOs, grassroots media connections) to advance outreach and student success.
Collaborates with other departments to obtain an ongoing understanding of audience feedback to improve marketing strategies and techniques.
Liaise with academic departments to stay informed of program and industry updates, changes and launches.
Management and Supervision: 35%
Oversee, guide and direct certain internal team members and assist director with external agency(s) management in the development and execution of these plans.
Help lead annual marketing planning process including, but not limited to, budget allocation, program-specific strategies, target market analysis and strategies, proposals for innovation and improvement.
Help manage external agency(s) responsible for campaign management. Includes reconciling internal data vs. agency information to track performance and key KPIs, consistently monitoring all available platform analytics and effectively coordinating and managing campaigns with vendor representatives and agency partners.
Marketing budget management and performance measurement.
Maintain third party/contractor relationships.
Collaborate and coordinate with Creative Team in the implementation of integrated marketing plans, including, but not limited to content management, curation and distribution.
Assist in the creation and distribution of content for maximum reach. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance in the following areas: identifying topics, research, writing and editing.
Team management to develop and build an effective and high-performing social and data marketing team. Manage the on-boarding, training, evaluation and professional development of two members.
Regularly monitor the competitive (higher education, marketing and media) landscape and stay current with trends, testing new approaches and adopting best-practice strategies across all marketing disciplines to bring creativity and innovation to the College marketing approach.
Project Leadership: 20%
Lead project manager for video, working on budgets, plans, talent, storyboard video creative concepts and managing pre-and post-production work with internal clients and video vendor(s).
First back-up when director is out of the office.
First back-up for crisis communications lead.
Helps oversee media relations, as backup to PR Manager and to foster new relationships such as bloggers.
Present marketing strategies and plans to key stakeholders.
Develop, maintain and improve systems for reporting to track campaign performance including, but not limited to, cost-per-lead, cost-per-click, click-through rates, landing page tracking, source and quality of leads, leads to student conversion, etc.
Regular (weekly, monthly, quarterly) analysis and management of campaign performance to meet or exceed marketing goals, while managing to a fixed advertising budget.
Provide ongoing reporting to Director of Public Relations and Marketing showing marketing performance by program and analysis of trends with an emphasis on ideas for innovation and improvement. Identify new data points and/or avenues for measuring marketing effectiveness.
Other: 5%
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Marketing, Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, Business Administration).
A minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience, including responsibility for marketing/communications strategy and activities of an organization.
Experience planning and deploying marketing campaigns that have measurable results.
Experience developing and implementing successful social media marketing strategies.
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
Knowledge of digital marketing best practices, SEO, Google analytics, ad words; social media
Desired Qualifications:
