The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Acute and Communicable Disease Prevention (ACDP) Section in Portland, OR is recruiting for an Emerging Infection Surge Epidemiologist to support capacity to maintain critical ACDP surveillance systems, infection control efforts in healthcare settings, and general communicable disease prevention and control efforts related to emerging infections.
What will you do?
As an Emerging Infection Surge Epidemiologist, you will maintain critical communicable disease surveillance systems, infection control efforts in healthcare settings, and general communicable disease prevention and control efforts related to emerging infections. This position provides critical capacity to adapt and response to the changing face of communicable disease. This position will develop and forward surveillance systems for other diseases as funding and needs change. You will oversee surveillance for bacterial and fungal infections as part of the CDC’s Emerging Infections Program; participate in studies to evaluate the prevalence of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in Oregon; provide technical assistance on infection control and investigation of outbreaks in healthcare settings; and assist with the preparation of reports and annual cooperative agreement renewal applications. You will also serve as a member of the general ACDP epidemiology staff, participating in outbreak response and responding to queries from local health officials, clinicians, the press, and the lay public. This position is cross trained to assist with ACDP epidemiology needs for staff involved in incident response for COVID-19 and other emergent needs.
What are we looking for?Minimum requirements: A master's degree in public health or epidemiology or a related field AND three years of professional-level epidemiological or public health experience in communicable disease of which one year must have been in a clinical epidemiological capacity OR a bachelor's degree in public health or epidemiology or a related field AND four years of professional-level epidemiological or public health experience in communicable disease of which one year must have been in a clinical epidemiological capacity. (NOTE: Experience obtained while completing an academic program/degree is not considered professional-level experience for this position.)
