Job Summary
Clark County Parks and Lands Division is looking for a Program Assistant to support multiple division-wide functions including parks administration, volunteer activities, Conservation Futures, equity and inclusion efforts, and the development of program evaluation standards and performance metrics within the Public Works department. Clark County provides regional parks, special facilities, regional trails, greenways and natural areas throughout the county, along with neighborhood and community parks and sports fields in or near the urban unincorporated area (Vancouver urban growth area). This position will work across the division with a primary focus on division-wide unity and process improvement. This position will report directly to the Division Manager and initially provide support with succession planning in the Conservation Futures program. This position will work closely with staff within the Financial Services division and indirectly report to the Financial Services manager in support of departmental program evaluation with a focus on Parks and Lands. The program assistant will support division’s equity and inclusion outreach, unity goals, volunteer activities, and strategic efforts. The work includes heavy administrative tasks and duties. This will be a challenging and rewarding opportunity.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A job related degree or three to five years of experience related to the parks administration, parks planning, project/finance management areas.
Knowledge of: applicable computer applications/technology, principles and practices of public sector organization and some specifics relating to program operations; planning, scheduling, monitoring and problem solving; research techniques and data analysis; budget tracking, justification and control; application of County state and federal laws and regulation relevant to the program/project area; departmental policies and procedures, trends and practices within the specialized area. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license at time of hire; and ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check are required.
