Security Software Engineer

Silver Peak is giving Enterprises the (WAN) Edge! With an end-to-end approach to SD-WAN platform, we are delivering the highest multiplier on your investments in cloud applications and services, transforming your WAN to deliver better economics, control, reliability and performance.

As SD-WAN and security become increasingly intertwined, Silver Peak is searching for a security expert to drive the security position of our flagship, market-leading, SD-WAN offering. You will be responsible for defining and owning the security posture of our network edge appliance, EdgeConnect, our on-prem and cloud-delivered Orchestrator-as-a-Service, and our cloud services. As Security Architect, you will report directly to the VP of Software Engineering.
 
How you'll make your mark:

• You’ll drive security priorities of all aspects of the EdgeConnect product line.
• You’ll drive Silver Peak’s response to new and emerging threats.
• You’ll provide architectural and design-level guidance to mitigate threats.
• You’ll own and drive the integrated security features of the Silver Peak product line. 
• You will work with business development as necessary to enhance our security offering via tight and meaningful integrations.
• You will draft and publish public security advisories and responses to any public vulnerabilities and exposures.
• You’ll provide architectural oversight of security related development.
• You’ll engage with the security community to ensure Silver Peak is ahead of emerging threats.
• You’ll work with the test automation team to automate vulnerability and pen testing.
• You’ll advise on secure architecture/design, attack surface area reduction, least privileged design, threat mitigations, and security standard methodologies.
• You will engage with customers and prospects to communicate our security position and posture.
   

About you:

• You have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or complimentary field with an advanced degree in Computer Science or Cryptography highly preferred.
• You have product security architecture and engineering experience.
• You have 8+ years of experience in security and software engineering.
• You are experienced with crypto analysis or cryptography research.
• You have strong knowledge in networking, web protocols, operating systems (preferably Linux), and hypervisors.
• You have a deep understanding of security vulnerabilities and attacks and the ability to mitigate them.
• You have hands-on skills with all or some of: JavaScript, C, C++, full-stack development.
• You have advanced problem-solving skills to identify complex security issues with software and hardware.
• You have experience with vulnerability management and penetration testing systems, tools, practices, and procedures
• You bring with you any security-related certifications.
• You have cloud services experience.
• You have a proven track record of driving FIPS and/or Common Criteria certification.
