Job Summary

 

Residential Appraisers conduct appraisals of urban and rural residential properties following office practices, procedures and established guidelines in a high volume fast paced environment.  Appraisals performed include land, single family residences, 2-4 plexes, farm buildings, and other small structures.  Responsibilities include all aspects of mass appraisal approaches to value including visual and physical property inspections, sales analysis and verification, land valuation, statistical adjustment, application of cost tables and market analysis and other duties as assigned.  The appraiser is also required to prepare and present clear, cogent and convincing documentation at Board of Equalization hearings to support assessed values.

The successful candidate will be hired at the Appraiser I, II or III level depending on related qualifications.

SALARY

 

Appraiser I:   $19.40 – $24.73 per hour

Appraiser II:  $22.42 – $28.66 per hour

Appraiser III: $26.02 – $33.14 per hour

It is the general policy to start new employees at the lower end of the applicable pay range.

 

Appraiser I:  Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with major course work in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math, or a related field or at least three to six months related experience in the areas of appraisal principles and techniques.  Successful completion of Washington State Department of Revenue Appraiser Accreditation and IAAO Course 101 (Fundamentals of Real Property Appraisal) are required within twelve months of hire.  The Appraiser I position is considered an entry level training position.  Salary range:  $19.40 - $24.73 per hour.

 

Appraiser II: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with major course work in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math or construction and two years of prior appraisal related experience.  Successful completion of Washington State Department of Revenue Appraiser Accreditation required within six months of hire.  Salary range:  $22.42 - $28.66 per hour.

 

Appraiser III:  Bachelor’s degree with major course work in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math or construction and three or more years of prior appraisal experience. Department of Revenue Accreditation must be achieved within six months of hire.  Full time appraisal experience greater than five years may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.  Salary range:  $26.02 - $33.14 per hour.
