Job Summary

Hawkeye Community College’s High School Relations department is looking for a part-time High School Relations Assistant to join their team.

 

Each year, we collaborate with 25 school districts to deliver dual-credit classes to almost 3,000 high school students.  As a member of the High School Relations team, you will be working with students, families, teachers and school counselors to answer questions, find solutions, and process information quickly and accurately.  Specifically, as the High School Relation Assistant you would be responsible for scheduling and assisting with joint enrollment (concurrent) registration sessions, providing textbook information to vendors, assisting with the roster confirmation processes, and communicates with Admissions regarding joint enrollment students in our Customer Relations Management System (CRM).

Essential Job Functions  

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists students with system issues related to Canvas, MyHawkeye, and the Concurrent Registration System.
  • Monitors High School Relations in-bound phone calls and email inbox.
  • Schedules registration sessions with service district high schools.
  • Assists with the registration process, including updating student records and roster
  • Documents joint enrollment students in CRM and communicates with Admissions Representatives.
  • Maintains and updates High School Relations registration documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of High School Relations.
  • Participates in campus committees as assigned.
  • Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in education, communications, business, social sciences or related field.
  • One (1) year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to total three (3) years.
  • Demonstrated strong oral, written, computer,
  • Must possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Iowa and be insurable to drive a college vehicle.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Working knowledge of a Customer Relations Management system.
  • Knowledge and experience of general admissions, joint enrollment, concurrent and/or dual enrollment processes and procedures practiced by post-secondary education institutions.
  • Experience speaking to small and/or large groups.

 

Working Conditions

Anticipated hours are Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 9am – 4:30pm and Friday from 9am – 3:00pm with protentional for occasional evenings.

Work is performed either in or a combination of an office setting and/or educational or classroom setting using technology.  Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.   Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequently during working hours. During course of day, interact with the general public, students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.

 

Employment Status

Regular, part-time hourly position averaging 24-27 hours per week, with a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution) available upon hire. Employees working an average of 20 hours or more per week for one-year, may be eligible for additional benefits including but not limited to: Single dental and vision insurance, Flex plus (IRS 125) plan and paid time off.
