Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Reimbursement Officer I for the Fox Developmental Center located in Dwight, Illinois to perform a variety of professional reimbursement duties. Investigates and evaluates the financial liability of individuals, their estates and their legally responsible relatives to determine appropriate equitable schedules of charges for services.   Prepares various types of correspondence used to expedite collection of funds. Conducts personal interviews with the individual, their relatives, attorneys, insurance companies, etc. to acquire information and explain statues, policies, and procedures relevant to the reimbursement program.  Confers with supervisor concerning the more complex cases; maintains and reviews files. Assists in training other staff in reimbursement operations.  Serves as Worker's Compensation Coordinator; provides back up to payroll and timekeeping.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of professional reimbursement duties.
  • Processes medical billing statements from providers, ex., third party billing such as insurances, Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B and Medicaid as related to payment for individual care and treatment.
  • Implements new and revised policies, methods, and procedures for reimbursement program.
  • Serves as Worker’s Compensation Coordinator.
  • Provides back up to facility payroll coordinator.
  • Serves as back-up timekeeper for assigned staff.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in accounting, economics, or business administration, preferably including courses in insurance, estate and probate law.
  • Requires one (1) year of work experience in the reimbursement field.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
