Job Description

Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is seeking candidates for a career position as Access Team Lead at our Marion County office based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Job Summary:

The Access Team Lead performs essential functions of Access department, ensuring day-to-day operations are completed in an efficient and effective manner.  Specific job functions include:

  1. Provides ongoing training and technical assistance designed to promote team-based quality improvement approaches to the day-to-day operations of the centralized access department.
  2. Ensures that the access department complies with internal and external compliance criteria, including the corporate compliance plan.
  3. Answer incoming calls for CA call center (new consumer, reschedule/cancellation, med-line, etc.).
  4. Completion of the "request for services/preadmission screening" documentation.
  5. Schedule new appointments and scheduling follow-up/cancelation/reschedules appointments for calls received in CA for clinicians and psychiatrists.
  6. Verify insurance to determine eligibility, deductible and co-payment amounts and obtain initial authorization and on-going authorization
  7. Checking Medicaid eligibility verification for scheduled appointments and making necessary payor changes in electronic health record (EHR), notifying outpatient office of changes, coordinate prior authorization process, and notify authorization department of payor changes.
  8. Ensures reminder call reports and Outreach calls are completed daily. 
  9. Distributing incoming faxes to dept/person, scan to electronic health record (EHR) and message appropriate staff.
  10. Demonstrates the ability to assess his/her own emotional responses to callers, co-workers and situations in which the worker's values are challenged.

 Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in medical or behavioral health office.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
