Job Summary/What to Expect: The Department of Art and Design at Drake University seeks a diverse pool of applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in art history beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate will have training and experience in both art history and museum/curatorial studies, with expertise in global contemporary art history. A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion is essential. Our dynamic department encompasses art history, studio art, and graphic design programs and maintains a permanent gallery space with an active exhibition schedule ( https://andersongallery.wp.drake.edu/ ). Teaching responsibilities encompass a teaching load of 3 courses per semester (3/3 load) and include introductory art history courses, courses in an area of expertise, and helping to develop and contribute to the development of a new minor in curatorial studies. Additional responsibilities include service to the department, college, and university, advising, and externalizing scholarship. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in art history or museum studies. While 1-3 years of teaching and curatorial experience is preferred, we also welcome applications from exceptional early-career scholars. Minimum Qualifications: A.B.D. in art history or museum studies Evidence of effective and engaging teaching Interest in the development and implementation of a curatorial studies minor A sound strategy for engaging in external scholarly activities Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in art history or museum studies 1-3 years of teaching experience 1-3 years of curatorial experience Expertise in global contemporary art history.
