The Senior Advisor for Dam Safety and Design, Estimating and Construction Oversight will:
Serve as the advisor to the Commissioner on the implementation of the Federal Guidelines for Dam Safety.
Provide leadership and broad program guidance associated with Reclamation's dam safety program. This includes reviewing and performing quality assurance associated with Reclamation's Dam Safety Program.
Conducts oversight reviews of Reclamation projects involving the design, estimating and construction functions to inform executive-level management and ensure major decisions and products are sound at both the project and Bureau-wide levels.
The Senior Advisor serves as the principal advisor to the Director, Policy and Programs regarding the implementation of the relevant policies, directives and standards and associated guidance documents for dam design, estimating and construction.
Provides oversight for engineering designs, estimates and construction activities to quickly identify dams that may pose an increased threat to the public, and to quickly complete analyses in order to expedite corrective action decisions which safeguard the public and associated resources.

Reclamation has constructed more than 600 dams and reservoirs including the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River and Grand Coulee on the Columbia River.
