Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

Cadmus seeks a Senior Energy Engineer to join our Energy Services business unit, focused on Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency and who has interest in next generation technologies and clean energy strategies for industrial and commercial decarbonization. 

  • Contribute to Cadmus' building energy codes and appliance standards area which involves building science, energy analysis, policy and regulatory analysis, and cutting edge analyses.
  • Conduct energy analyses on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings using advanced spreadsheets and building energy simulation software such as eQUEST and Energy Plus.
  • Provide technical, engineering and planning support for zero net energy (ZNE) building projects, ZNE building codes and standards development and evaluation.
  • Perform technical reviews and engineering calculations for building envelope, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, and water heating systems to identify energy consumption and energy-efficiency potential.
  • Develop Evaluation, Measurement and Verification (EM&V) plans
  • Consult with clients on energy-efficiency evaluations with emphasis on building envelope, HVAC, lighting, and water heating systems of commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Monitor budgets, timelines and deliverables, and manage stakeholders for the codes and standards evaluation projects.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through new business development efforts with the major organizations in the energy-efficiency and the energy codes and standards business area and contribute to proposals on an as needed basis.
  • Present program evaluation results to clients.
  • Provide feedback to co-workers and senior managers and train junior-level staff on codes and standards evaluations, engineering analyses, and energy-efficiency program evaluation methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in building energy simulation modeling using software such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace and DOE-2
  • Strong interest in energy efficiency, carbon reduction and mitigation technologies, and clean energy
  • Developing technical spreadsheets to conduct engineering analyses focused on building envelope, HVAC, water heating and lighting systems
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Familiarity with project management practices and tools, including developing schedules, assigning resources, and budget tracking

 Desired Qualifications

  • Experience installing a variety of energy metering and data logging equipment
  • Developing EM&V plans
  • Experience analyzing energy use of residential, commercial, and industrial systems including using analysis techniques such as regression modeling and bin analysis, cross-validation, and parameter tuning/optimization.
  • Technical background and knowledge of decarbonization, low carbon technologies, and energy efficiency strategies.
  • Understanding of energy/carbon policy developments, energy markets and wider energy/sustainability issues
