Job Summary

The Clark County Geographic Information Services (GIS) department has an opening for a GIS Coordinator. The GIS Coordinator is responsible for delivering geospatial solutions that provide insights into data, streamline departmental workflows, manage County assets, and enable County staff and the general public to make more informed decisions. The successful candidate will act as the main liaison between the GIS department and the County’s Community Planning, Community Development, and Public Health departments. Creativity, collaboration, strong project management skills, and a drive to innovate and improve workflows are key traits for success in this role.  

 

Qualifications:

The main responsibilities of this position include:

 

  • Deliver GIS data, analysis, training, and ongoing project support for the County’s Community Planning, Community Development, and Public Health departments.
  • Overall project management that includes problem analysis, solution design, and project execution. Solution design will include design or review of complex database systems, application interfaces, and existing workflows.
  • Stewardship of departmental and project-specific geospatial data, enterprise geodatabases, and web applications.
  • Assist with the ongoing development, operation, and maintenance of the County’s enterprise GIS systems including our suite of ArcGIS Enterprise products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online).
  • Direct management of technical GIS staff, including defining work assignments and prioritizing tasks.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree with major course work in geography, GIS, computer science, urban or community planning, or a closely related field.
  • At least four (4) years of experience with managing and implementing complex GIS-based projects and solutions; preferably within the context of land use planning, development-related permitting, code enforcement, and public health.
  • At least four (4) years of experience with management and analysis of geospatial data, Python scripting for process improvement and automation, and developing GIS applications using the Esri ArcGIS software suite.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in leading professional GIS staff on projects that involve a substantial amount of geospatial data analysis, visualization, and management (preferably within the context of local government).

Salary Grade: M2.828 $7,145.00 - $10,093.00- per month
