Job Description

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Automation Engineer to join an excellent team and work to advance their IT operations. 

This is a full-time opportunity.

The work of this role may be conducted remotely with full access to the needed operating systems and technology.

What you will do! 

As an Automation Engineer you will propose, develop, and integrate testing automated solutions for systems integrating with the ONE Eligibility Program. This position is responsible for maintaining existing automation solutions as well as developing future solutions.

Existing solutions include automated testing and scripting in .net, Java, PowerShell, and mainframe tools. Current automated testing is focused on regression testing software builds. These tests validate existing functionality is maintained through each build along with automating repetitive tasks. Results of tests are documented and distributed to respective teams. Additional automated testing will focus on availability, performance, and security testing. 

 

What we are looking for!

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

(a) Seven (7) years of information systems experience in:

Gathering requirements, developing, monitoring, and supporting automation such as test cases, performance testing, security testing, or advanced scripting of repetitive tasks.

OR

(b) An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;

AND 5 years of information systems experience in:

Gathering requirements, developing, monitoring, and supporting automation such as test cases, performance testing, security testing, or advanced scripting of repetitive tasks

OR

(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience in:

Gathering requirements, developing, monitoring, and supporting automation such as test cases, performance testing, security testing, or advanced scripting of repetitive tasks

(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

AND one (1) year of information systems experience in:

Gathering requirements, developing, monitoring, and supporting automation such as test cases, performance testing, security testing, or advanced scripting of repetitive tasks

 

Desired Attributes:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with modern source control systems, testing practices, code and design review tools and processes such as Azure DevOps Server, Git, GitHub, Jira, Subversion.
  • Direct involvement automating user tasks including tools to enter data and screen scrape from applications such as Jagacy, UFT, Altran, Brute, etc.
  • Strong Knowledge of System Administration & Architecture, Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019, IIS/Apache, Authorization & Authentication, SSL/Encryption.
  • Ability to install, configure, and manage commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and adding customized modules to extend the functionality of COTS products.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages including PowerShell, bash, etc.
  • Basic knowledge programing languages such as .NET and Java.
  • Existing knowledge and/or willingness to learn current Information Technology frameworks such as ITIL, PMBOK, Agile, DevOps, SDLC, etc.
  • Understanding of software licensing including helping customers identify which licenses are needed to meet their requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with and facilitate diverse groups and individuals. This includes the ability to prioritize workloads and the ability to analyze complex procedures, processes and polices. The person in this position must have experience coordinating projects with other Information Systems professionals, and in writing documentation according to established standards.    

 

Desired Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Experience troubleshooting DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) related issues, such as builds, deployments and other automation-related issues.

  • Familiarity with system performance monitoring and tuning techniques.
  • Knowledge of data obfuscation and masking techniques.
  • Willingness to share knowledge using tools such as Stack Overflow.
  • Experience in advancing health equity, addressing systemic health disparities, and collaborating with diverse, vulnerable, and underrepresented populations.
