What is a Volunteer Support Specialist?
The Volunteer Support Specialist is responsible for duties relating to the onboarding and retention of volunteers and girl members. Responsible for implementing and assessing comprehensive year-round membership support strategies that increase girl and volunteer membership and enhance retention. Develop, cultivate, and support relationships with service unit and troop volunteers in assigned area to support delivery of Girl Scout programming.

Support troop leadership teams and caregivers in completing renewal of their Girl Scout membership on an annual basis. Communicate that membership registration is a requirement of participation in the Girl Scout program.

This position is located in our Central Region Office (CRO) in Union Gap, WA . Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. From industrial facilities to illegal drug labs to sunken boats, our work to stop releases of hazardous materials to the environment is unique and challenging. What makes this role unique?
In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team and use science to solve complex environmental and public health challenges. Working with other federal, state, local, and Tribal response partners, spill responders serve as Ecology’s State On-Scene Coordinator leading the response and cleanup of complex environmental spills. The most challenging aspect of the work is coordinating with others under stress. However, every response is a new opportunity to collaborate with partner agencies and impacted citizens. You will use skill and empathy to mitigate stresses so that everyone involved is able to perform at their best and get the job done safely. What you will do:
Conduct responses to spills of oil and HAZMAT, abandoned waste, fish kills, pressurized cylinders, illegal drug manufacturing facilities, and other environmental and human health emergencies.
Under supervision, conduct operations to control, contain, and cleanup spills, and investigate their cause.
Under supervision, perform hands-on cleanup actions at oil and HAZMAT spills and illegal drug manufacturing facilities.
As State On-Scene Coordinator, oversee cleanup actions of spillers and their contractors.
Complete detailed documentation of response actions.
Complete ongoing training related to growth and competence as a Spill Responder.
Ensure safe and appropriate management of dangerous wastes generated as part of emergency oil and hazmat cleanup activities.

The Latinx Engagement Specialist is responsible for the recruitment and retention of Latina girl members and Latinx adult volunteers. They will build and maintain community partnerships to increase Girl Scout presence in identified Latinx communities. Communicates with primary care provider (PCP) to inform of any delays or barriers to patients care.
Serves as clinic liaison to outside agencies and partners.
Communicates with Supervisor when unable to process all referrals or follow-ups to avoid delays.
Involve in all quality improvement and other team projects actively.
Reporting of incoming and outgoing calls logs to the supervisor as needed.
Coordinator and tracking imaging, voicemails and incoming faxes inside and outside facilities.
OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO MEET BUSINESS NEEDS.
REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Proficient use of Microsoft Office and electronic health records. Bilingual in Spanish/ English required
Knowledge of:
Basic medical terminology and patient care methods, techniques and healthcare background.
Methods and standard procedures for the maintenance of medical records.
Safety policies and safe practices applicable to the work.
Effective communication skills; general computer knowledge.
Knowledgeable with CPT and ICD-9 codes.
Knowledge of insurances, managed care and IPA’s
Ability to:
Prioritized work load and maintained an organized work space
Communicate effectively with people of various educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Understand and follow written and oral instructions from physicians, mid-level providers and nurses and apply departmental policies, guidelines and protocols applicable to APLA.
Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Operate a computer and standard business software.
Maintain highly confidential personal and medical information in accordance to HIPAA regulations.
Exercise tact, objectivity, sensitivity and sound judgment in dealing with a variety of people in a variety of sensitive situations.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members, patients and others encountered in the course of work.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is primarily an office position that requires only occasional bending, reaching, stooping, lifting and moving of office materials weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires daily use of a personal computer and requires entering, viewing, and revising text and graphics on the computer terminal and on paper.
