Job Purpose

Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma and professional HVAC trade experience is required. Must be experienced in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC equipment in residential, industrial and commercial applications. A valid SC driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, as the employee will be required to drive state vehicles to transport equipment and/or personnel. Must have EPA certification. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have knowledge regarding the handling of chemicals, refrigerants and industrial gasses. Should have considerable knowledge of HVAC equipment, tools, and work procedures, used in HVAC equipment maintenance and repair. Must be able to anticipate, locate and correct general and emergency problems as related to HVAC /mechanical equipment maintenance and repair. Must have the ability to learn and operate computerized web-based HVAC control programs to monitor and adjust temperatures in campus buildings.
Position requires basic computer skills and working knowledge and experience in using e-mail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is preferred. Experience in utilizing on-line work order systems is a plus. Skill with electronic devices such as iPhone and iPad is preferred. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. All employees at the College are expected to perform their jobs in a safe manner in accordance with best safety practices as prescribed by their department, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration training as provided by Facilities Management at the College of Charleston .

Responsible for equipment monitoring, inspection and proactive maintenance activities for all mechanical systems to improve and sustain equipment reliability.

Required Skills
1+ years of Predictive Maintenance Experience OR 5+ years of Industrial Maintenance Experience.
Performs and documents line checks, corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance including the lubrication and inspection of equipment to sustain equipment reliability. Documentation may include but is not limited to SAP, Belt Tracking form, FM form, BDE card, etc.
Proficient in using the plant Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to write Notifications, complete and enter Work Orders, complete PM routes, and enter equipment history.
Perform thermal imaging scans of running equipment and report findings; amp-draw surveys of running equipment and report findings; laser alignment of all critical equipment as needed and train other craft personnel in the use of the laser alignment equipment; in place balancing of fans using vibration analyzer as needed; ultrasonic surveys in the plant looking for air leaks, bearing faults and proper lubrication.
Has successfully passed the advancement test for Maintenance Technician.
Possess ISO Cat I or equivalent vibration analyst certification with ability to obtain next certification level.
Possess Infrared (IR) and UE certifications or equivalent experience or training.
If lacking the required certification, has a signed agreement with management on a time frame to successfully obtain the required certification and retain the awarded position.

Job Summary:
The Instrumentation/Calibration Technician II is responsible for the maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment, and instrumentation for research and development and manufacturing laboratory equipment. Maintain certification status of all temperature storage devices

Low voltage Building Automation or PLC controls experience preferred
Working knowledge of at least one controls industry protocols: LON , ModBus, or BACnet, BACnet preferred
Reading and understanding mechanical plans and controls diagrams required
Proficient troubleshooting skills required
Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and supervision
1-yr trade school certification in HVAC , Computer Science, Industrial Automation or related field.
2 years of industry related technical field experience including working with HVAC systems, DDC systems, software control systems, and device calibration are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
