Job Summary
Hawkeye Community College’s Division of Student Affairs is seeking a full-time International Student Specialist to join the Office of the Registrar's team. The Division offers a broad range of support services to help students achieve success as a college student and beyond. We work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and the community to support student engagement, and learning and success at Hawkeye Community College. Our team promotes the continuous improvement of the college experience by helping students to connect, collaborate and commit to engage in activities, programs, and opportunities as they achieve their goals. As the International Student Specialist, you will work with students in all aspects of their educational journey from the beginning to end. You not only will build relationships with students but with various departments across campus. You will serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the college and will monitor international students’ admissions, enrollment, registration, retention and completion. Additionally, you will coordinate and lead international student events and programs including the International Student Orientation process. Furthermore, you will serve as a resource regarding SEVIS requirements and regulations so that international students maintain a valid F-1 status.

Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintains international student records in SEVIS and issues I-20’s.
Maintains working knowledge of DHS documents, legislation, and other immigration matters.
Advises the college accordingly with regard to F-1 student visa policies and procedures.
Assists international students with issues such as acquiring Social Security numbers, setting up banking accounts, obtaining a US driver’s license and other areas, as needed.
Assists students with filing appropriate DHS documents to include reinstatement, applications for work permits, Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), etc.
Attends training and other professional development as assigned to stay current with federal F-1 visa regulations to effectively advise students on immigration-related policies and procedures.
Represents college at regional and national NAFSA and other necessary professional organizations.
Develops, implements, and keeps current on new policies for international students, including but not limited to admission policies, English proficiency requirements and health insurance requirements.
Provides support for international students facing academic and personal challenges and provides appropriate referrals to college and community resources.
Reviews application for admission and all required supplemental documentation for F-1 students.
Monitors and responds to international student communication including email, walk-ins and phone.
Assists with providing international students with information regarding, but not limited to: Visa interview tips, registration and New Student Orientation, suggested packing list, etc.
Develops and organizes welcome orientation for incoming international students.
Connects with the International Student Organization to establish a collaborative relationship and serve as a source of information and ideas.
Consults with college faculty, staff, outside departments (such as Admissions, Athletics, Student Services, Student Activities, Student Success, etc.), administrators, and other campus-wide colleagues and partners regarding international students' needs and supports.
Assists in managing and updating the International Student Community Canvas page departmental website.
Serves as a member of the International Student Committee and liaises with faculty and staff regarding international student needs and concerns.
Assists with arrival transportation from airports for new international students
Assists with recruitment strategies, planning and conducting outreach activities, and tracking data on international student recruitment efforts via partnership with the Admissions Department.
Assists with proctoring placement tests for international students as needed.
May supervise AmeriCorps members focused on student success of international students.
Occasional evening or weekend hours required, as needed to meet the needs of international students.
Provides assistance to the Associate Registrar and performs duties in their absence.
Provides support to several Registrar office’s tasks, functions and services.
Provides assistance in monitoring the Guest Student Applications in Recruit and sends them to Colleague accordingly in the absence of the Transcript Specialist.
Conveys and interprets test scores or prior coursework to determine student eligibility for specific course(s).
Assists and processes transcript requests, enrollment verifications, address changes, loan deferments, DOT requests, military documentation requests, registration, and other requests in the Transcript Specialist’s absence.
Assists with registering Guest Students in Colleague.
Maintains records/files in accordance with FERPA.
Provides assistance in monitoring the office email, answering incoming phone calls, and also assists with walk-ins.
Participates in campus committees as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Student Affairs or related field with one (1) year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience to total five (5) years.
Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status to meet Federal citizen requirements to work as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and related visa work with international students.
Must possess a current driver’s license valid in the State of Iowa with a Class D endorsement or obtain the Class D endorsement within thirty (30) days of hire.
Must have a driving record insurable by the College’s insurer.
Demonstrated ability to maintain and prepare records and reports.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.

Working Conditions
Anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional weekend or evening hours.
Work is performed either in or a combination of an office setting and/or classroom setting using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
Employment Status

Desired Attributes

Program and/or project management experience is desirable.
Industry experience with managing or directing water system operations and infrastructure projects.
Certification as a water system operator or related / similar licensing.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and public speaking.
Experience working with federal infrastructure funding grants.
A high level of knowledge and understanding of financial principles and generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) is highly desirable and beneficial for this position.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will carry out the listed responsibilities of the accounting department. The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the WRI to be fully aware of its financial condition. You will be responsible for processing all timesheets on time. What will you do:
Timesheet Management (40%):
Process semi-monthly timesheets: process and export DC and China office labor and leave information from Deltek Time and Expense Application to Costpoint
Ensure that all timesheets are submitted
Manage timesheet codes and advise staff on how to use the codes
Set up new employees in Costpoint, along with all current employees change
Payroll Management (30%):
Book in the system monthly - salary adjustments, leave calculations/adjustments, Leave payout to term staff, bonus entries, payroll entries, direct allocations
Submit all payroll check payments through ECM system
Prepare and enter all payroll related Accounting entries
Prepare and record all transactions related to Safeguard and secondees
Accounting Task (30%):
Respond to inquiries about timesheet promptly and provide guidance
Reconcile assigned GL accounts
Be a backup for payroll specialist
Support payroll manager and Accounting Manager during audit and 990 process
Any additional responsibility set by Manager
What will you need:
Education: You have completed a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related fields
Experience: You have minimum of 3 years of full-time relevant work experience in payroll and timesheets management
Experience with and HRIS system such as ADP and/or an Enterprise Resource Planning
Languages: Verbal and written English proficiency required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent Girl Scouts of Colorado in the assigned community of focus.
Analysis of community needs, demographic data and membership statistics, develop, design and conduct recruitment and retention plan for youth and volunteer membership growth in designated geographic areas in coordination with membership team leadership.
Provide potential new members with a consistent message about Girl Scouting and all of the possible ways to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made in order to meet membership goal.
Establish the appropriate volunteer support team to accomplish key priorities by selecting, appointing, and coaching recruitment and community engagement volunteers in assigned geographic areas.
Support service unit development and maintenance through implementation of recruitment and support strategies.
Seek opportunities and keep in contact with local community organizations, agencies and leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of Girl Scouting and support member recruitment efforts.
Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
Work collaboratively with all Council departments to ensure council program and initiatives are successfully marketed to youth and adult membership.
Provide professionally superior customer service to all internal and external customers, members, volunteers, staff and other community contacts in person, electronically and by phone.

What is a Volunteer Support Specialist?
The Volunteer Support Specialist is responsible for duties relating to the onboarding and retention of volunteers and girl members. What is a Volunteer Support Specialist?
The Volunteer Support Specialist is responsible for duties relating to the onboarding and retention of volunteers and girl members. Responsible for implementing and assessing comprehensive year-round membership support strategies that increase girl and volunteer membership and enhance retention. The Volunteer Support Specialist develops and works closely with teams of service unit volunteers and direct-service volunteers to ensure they have the necessary resources to provide high-quality program experiences to girls. **It is required that this Membership Specialist resides within (or very close proximity to) Metro Denver, Colorado, USA.
Develop, cultivate, and support relationships with service unit and troop volunteers in assigned area to support delivery of Girl Scout programming.
Develop and implement volunteer support plans that align with organizational strategy in volunteer and youth retention, GSLE delivery, service unit development, and volunteer communications, assessment and recognition.
Support troop leadership teams and caregivers in completing renewal of their Girl Scout membership on an annual basis. Communicate that membership registration is a requirement of participation in the Girl Scout program.
Provide ongoing support, supervision, and direction to administrative volunteers in assigned geographic areas by interpreting Girl Scouts of the USA and council policies, standards, and procedures and by directing volunteers to additional support services.
Support service unit development and maintenance through implementation of recruitment and support strategies.
Identifies the need for and provides timely problem solving and conflict resolution support/intervention when appropriate.
Support service units and troops in participation in product programs in coordination with the Product Program team.
Work collaboratively with all Council departments to ensure council program and initiatives are successfully marketed to youth and adult membership.
Ensure volunteers in assigned geographic area receive timely appreciation and recognition for their volunteer efforts.
Provide professional, superior customer service to all internal and external customers, members, volunteers, staff and other community contacts in person, electronically and by phone.
Ensure that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the daily work of the position.
Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and Girl Scouts.
Other Responsibilities
Collaborate with other members of the regional and volunteer support, recruitment, and placement specialist teams statewide to ensure the effective implementation of local and statewide renewal and member engagement strategies.
Collaborate with the program team to drive participation in staff-led program opportunities.
Collaborate with the customer care and data teams to ensure prompt response to customer inquiries and accuracy of membership data.
Collaborate with Product Program team to drive participation in and deliver on a positive member experience within the product programs.
Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado in the area of pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking and networking skills required.
Skills in conflict resolution and mediation.
Knowledge of volunteer management strategies preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite of programs.
Strong motivational, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing technologies.
Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
Bilingual skills desired but not required.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards.
EDUCATIONAL OR FORMAL TRAINING
No formal educational requirements
EXPERIENCE
Experience in volunteer or account management preferred.
Experience in membership development, recruitment and/or retention
Experienced in data management using sales/customer management software (Salesforce) preferred
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Computer and related software, telephone, e-mail, fax machines, copiers and equipment commonly found in an office environment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Variable working schedule including potential for multiple evening meetings each month, weekends and some overnight stays.
Regular travel throughout council jurisdiction may be required.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, volunteers, customers and vendors.
Access to transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business statewide.
Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Girl Scout insurance company.
May be required to transport Girl Scout materials weighing up to 30 pounds from a vehicle to a building as well as preparing facilities for meetings, with or without assistance.
Salary
This position pays a range of $20.67-$21.39 per hour, plus benefits (including mileage reimbursement)
