Position Title : Development Director

We are seeking an energetic and highly organized Development Director to implement our development plan. This is a key role in helping to grow the organization. The successful candidate will be analytical and creative, collaborate well with a passionate and fun staff, and coordinate and manage multiple projects. Essential Functions: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Development Director (DD) will provide strategic leadership for the planning, implementation, evaluation, integration, and administration development department. The DD will lead a team of development professionals in achieving the organization’s revenue goals, increasing income, and educating and engaging more individuals and institutions in the to advance the organization’s mission. The DD will be part of a skilled team of professionals working to raise at least $5 million annually. The DD manages a multi-faceted fundraising program; central to this role will be prioritizing personal solicitation of major donors, events, online and direct marketing, and foundation fundraising.
Duties:
Work closely with the Development Team to establish fundraising goals, set strategic priorities, advise on program development, and develop and meet annual budget
Manage and build a growing team of development professionals, provide on-going guidance, direction, and motivation, hire team members and provide oversight to consultants as needed, delegate appropriately and ensure strong internal communication and coordination, and evaluate performance and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth
Work closely with the Boards of Directors to engage them more deeply in the fundraising process and to help cultivate a strong relationship between board members and the organization
Help track cultivation and prospecting activity and ensure the execution of action items
Solicit contributions from major individual donors and steward long-term relationships with donors
Develop relationships with prospective individual and foundation donors to increase funding
Research prospective institutional and individual funders
Work with internal partners to draft and edit proposals and reports
Track proposal and reporting deadlines, ensure that all submitted materials are accurate and comply with any funder requirements
Manage all grant activity in a central database and deliver regular reports to the Executive Director
Serve as the point person for management and maintenance of funders database and ensure efficient system utilization across all units
Oversee the implementation of ongoing programs to improve the renewal rates of existing annual donors, creatively use events to upgrade donors and maintain a diversity of revenue
Work with the VP of Operations to develop annual budgets and income projections
Stay abreast of political and philanthropic trends and ensure that Board and staff are informed of changes in legislation and other trends and initiatives that might impact giving
Competencies:

A clear understanding of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofit legal issues/structures.
Well-developed writing, interpersonal and organizational skills and experience managing staff
Commitment to organization’s mission and understanding of current policy issues and political landscape
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with, and quickly gain the respect and support of, various constituencies, including a visible chief executive committed to raising money, established development management team, active board members, other senior leadership, program directors and donors.
Experience as an effective communicator who is articulate and persuasive in both the spoken and written word; must be adept at crafting materials and making presentations to a variety of audiences

Work Environment: This job operates in a typical office setting. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a permanent full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
Travel Requirements: This position has frequent travel throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000/year
Commensurate according to years of experience. All employees must meet a 6-month probationary period. Continuation of this position after one year is dependent on the successful candidate meeting jointly determined performance goals.

The Department of Community Justice (DCJ) is recognized as a national leader in both adult and juvenile community justice. DCJ routinely consults and makes use of evidence-based practices in our program and policy development. Clinical Direction and Oversight for Assessment & Evaluation Behavioral Residential Program
Provide oversight of clinical operations of the program.
Implementation of therapeutic interventions and evidence-based practices.
Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to include other county agencies, clients/families, and community providers to ensure accessibility of services to clients and appropriateness of referral and placements.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programming.

Program development, planning, coordination, and implementation
Lead in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices for improved outcomes.
Monitors employee compliance with policy and procedure and keeps JSD Director advised of staff issues.
Set goals and objectives for the unit in alignment with the Department’s overall mission and vision.
Continuously review and evaluate the quality of services provided by individual work teams.
Provide leadership, strategy, and advice, driving the programmatic work of the Restorative Practices team.
The Restorative Practices team includes the Hands of Wonder garden, Detention restorative practice coordinator, and Court and Community Services restorative practice coordinator.
The programmatic work includes developing and implementing restorative practice training programs, designing and facilitating, restorative circles or meetings, creating policies and procedures for restorative approaches, evaluating the effectiveness of restorative interventions, and collaborating with other internal and external stakeholders to promote restorative practices.
Provide leadership for interagency collaborations that will improve policies and procedures to better youth and families impacted by the Juvenile Justice system.
Research evidence based practices related to subject matter expertise, including topics on trauma, cultural responsivity, and reducing overrepresentation of marginalized populations in the Juvenile Justice system.

The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. The OSPS is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office develops pretrial standards and employs pretrial service officers who conduct pretrial investigations and provide pretrial supervision.
The Pretrial Services Officer has two primary responsibilities which include the interviewing of detained pretrial defendants, accurately scoring pretrial release assessments, and preparation of pretrial release reports for the local court. This position will also be responsible for the community supervision of those defendants released by the local court on pretrial release supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Pretrial Services Officers prepare pretrial reports and provide pretrial supervision to adults arrested on criminal charges. Pretrial Services Officers work under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor, Deputy Region Chief and Region Chief within the Division of Pretrial Operations. This position requires working 37.5 hours per week and overtime when necessary.
*Shift will be determined to fit operational needs of the court which may include working weekends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:

The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. The OSPS is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. What is a Community Connections Director?
The Community Connections Director develops and oversees the delivery of community engagement and alternative program delivery models intended to engage diverse and underrepresented communities. This position serves as a champion for and key contributor to driving membership-focused diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The Community Connections Director supervises a team of Program Specialists who directly facilitate community-based programs and execute innovative programs to support member engagement. Provide leadership and supervision to a team of Program Specialists in the delivery of community-based programs and alternative program delivery models. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, coaching, development, and performance management functions.
Create community awareness and Girl Scout visibility through community involvement and engagement (i.e. youth coalitions, local partnerships and events geared towards underrepresented communities). Cultivate relationships with relevant community leaders, organizations, and businesses.

What is a Community Connections Director?
The Community Connections Director develops and oversees the delivery of community engagement and alternative program delivery models intended to engage diverse and underrepresented communities. The Community Connections Director supervises a team of Program Specialists who directly facilitate community-based programs and execute innovative programs to support member engagement. Design, develop, and implement innovative programs and delivery models to reach underrepresented populations.
Provide leadership and supervision to a team of Program Specialists in the delivery of community-based programs and alternative program delivery models. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, coaching, development, and performance management functions.
Create community awareness and Girl Scout visibility through community involvement and engagement (i.e. youth coalitions, local partnerships and events geared towards underrepresented communities). Cultivate relationships with relevant community leaders, organizations, and businesses.

ABOUT MAKING WAVES EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Making Waves Education Foundation is an education nonprofit that students historically underserved and underrepresented to pursue college and career pathways that set them up for a thriving career, financial independence, and a choice-filled life.
We support Making Waves Academy (MWA), a 5-12 grade public charter school in Richmond, CA. After high school graduation, each of our students (we call them “Wave-Makers”) is invited to join our college success and early career program, where they can receive a need-based scholarship, one-to-one college coaching, and financial literacy training. Each year, we support over 1,200 5th – 12th graders and over 500 college students on their journeys to and through college. In 2020, Making Waves Foundation launched a new strategic plan to serve more students and families. We will do this by taking the best of what we’ve learned at Making Waves Academy about college access and the best of what we’ve learned at Making Waves Foundation about college success and work to increase the college attendance and graduation rate for low-income students across Contra Costa County and beyond.

ABOUT MAKING WAVES EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Making Waves Education Foundation is an education nonprofit that students historically underserved and underrepresented to pursue college and career pathways that set them up for a thriving career, financial independence, and a choice-filled life.
We support Making Waves Academy (MWA), a 5-12 grade public charter school in Richmond, CA. After high school graduation, each of our students (we call them “Wave-Makers”) is invited to join our college success and early career program, where they can receive a need-based scholarship, one-to-one college coaching, and financial literacy training. Each year, we support over 1,200 5th – 12th graders and over 500 college students on their journeys to and through college. In 2020, Making Waves Foundation launched a new strategic plan to serve more students and families. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Regional Philanthropy Senior Officer will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective regional private foundation donors in expanding their financial support of the work of the American Red Cross. Manage assigned portfolio of donors, sponsors and prospects to meet monthly, quarterly and annual revenue a goals. As required, serve as operational resource to less experienced team members to ensure consistent and effective implementation of donor development plans. May lead team in planning and implementing fundraising strategies. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Candidates can work anywhere in the Connecticut and Rhode Island Region of American Red Cross . This is a hybrid work position which includes a mix of virtual and in-office work. The position also requires travel for face-to-face meetings with donors, staff and other constituents. Successful candidates will highlight experience with private foundations and grant writing. This position does not supervise any staff. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD: 1. Develop and execute ongoing Regional strategy for qualifying donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions as well as recapture from previous donors. Work collaboratively with other departments and fundraising staff to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor/prospect. May lead team in planning and implementing fundraising strategies. 2. Manage assigned portfolio of donors and prospects with intent to form deep relationships. Responsible for minimum annual fundraising goal tied to segmented or blended portfolio as specified in performance standards, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue. Develop donor management plans for entire portfolio resulting in strategic, knowledgeable and complex asks. Solicit assigned donor portfolio through face to face visits, including preparation of personalized materials. Revenue target may increase due to major domestic disasters. 3. Implement a program/activity to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors at the $5,000 level or higher, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross. Work with leadership volunteers to identify and cultivate appropriate donors and partner with assigned Gift Planning staff to solicit giving prospects among identified donors. Update donor records in region and/or district database and Salesforce.com following donor contacts. May lead team(s) in planning and executing against prospecting development programs. 4. Participate in disaster relief fundraising projects as appropriate. May oversee and have responsibility for staff development. 5. Recruit, develop and work with field staff and volunteers. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree is highly desirable. Minimum 7 years of fundraising leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required. Requires frequent travel within the Region. Occasional travel within the Division. Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. The salary range for this position is $ 154,000 - $ 163,000 This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded. May be called upon to serve roles in coordination with national response operations. 7. Oversee the board members and community volunteer leaders within an assigned region or geographic area. Build and guide activities of chapter boards. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Regional Response Manager will p rovide functional expertise to Leadership at a regional level or take full cycle responsibility to provide service delivery programs within the 27-county Eastern New York Region. At the American Red Cross, your uniqueness can shine! We are currently seeking a Regional Response Manager to work in Albany or Utica, NY supporting our Eastern New York Region . WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Regional Response Manager will p rovide functional expertise to Leadership at a regional level or take full cycle responsibility to provide service delivery programs within the 27-county Eastern New York Region. Through a trained and engaged volunteer workforce, the Regional Response Manager will support local communities by providing services to include but are not limited to: response to recurrent local disasters (house fires, floods, etc.), capacity building for mass care service delivery, participation in the Home Fire Campaign, and direct assistance and recovery services to those impacted by disasters. Develop, guide, lead, and support team of trained volunteers, as well as implement and develop initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program/service delivery of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs. The Regional Response Manager will a ct as a program or service subject matter expert (SME) to staff, management, volunteers and external partners. Specific duties to be assigned at the discretion of the region based on municipalities within coverage area, amount and complexity of program activity, presence of significant grant funding, geography, risk, population, frequency of events, and regional structure. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Specific duties: oversee the volunteer Disaster Action Teams and the Duty Officer program for the Region. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD: Through a team of volunteers, implement the Disaster Cycle Services program in assigned territory in alignment with established metrics. Partner with leadership and employees across the Red Cross to ensure the most collaborative, impactful, and effective delivery of services. Identify and develop volunteer leaders who can act in facilitative leader roles across the disaster cycle, coordinate internally and partner to align with government, and work to enable the entire community to participate in all phases of the disaster cycle by providing direct services and being a facilitative leader. Support and develop a volunteer team responsible for the implementation of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs in the local area. Ensure the development of leadership volunteers in each of the program support functional areas of the disaster cycle to meet the needs of the territory, region, state and division. May hire, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate performance of volunteer leaders and volunteers. Manage volunteer recruitment and leadership identification. Lead and support ongoing volunteer recognition and engagement opportunities. Serve in planning capacity in anticipation of larger response and recovery scenarios to include divisional coordination, multi-agency planning, and participation in local/regional/national deployment opportunities. Lead and/or assist with the implementation of training efforts, community preparedness opportunities, and the support to other American Red Cross stakeholders. Represent Disaster Cycle Services team and be prepared to mobilize a volunteer workforce in support of disaster events across the country. Assist in the mobilization and support of local resources (volunteers, equipment, and supplies), as well as potential deployment themselves to serve in a leadership capacity on a relief operation outside of their area of responsibility. Ensure American Red Cross services are available to diverse communities. Recruit and engage diverse workforce that represents the communities we are serving. Implement the Disaster Cycle Services structure and develop the team that mobilizes the local community to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, meeting the needs and expectations of clients and stakeholders. Develop human and material resources (volunteers, partners, community agencies, shelter and vendor agreements etc.) to ensure the full cycle of disaster services is delivered. Provide oversight and support to local responses through the deployment of volunteer leaders and volunteers on a daily basis in a rapid and accessible manner. Qualified and experienced volunteer leaders should be placed in key roles first. If volunteer leadership is unavailable, may serve during times of disaster as the operational leadership. Collaborate in local planning, exercises and training, including exercises called by local partners Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster, Emergency Management Agencies and Local Emergency Planning Committees (VOADs, EMAs and LEPCs). Manage relationships with fire department leadership on home fires as a responsive deliverable. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: Bachelor's degree required. Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience with building, mobilizing, leading and developing volunteer teams to execute a social services program or service, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor to accomplish work through team leaders. Develop project plans & budgets. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of program or service, ability to create presentations and training modules, and strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated analytical and decision- making skills to interpret program trends, results, formulate recommendations, and develop creative processes for continuous program or service improvements. Proven track record of collaboration with diverse groups and individuals, managing multiple priorities, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management. Additionally, this position requires ability for planning, public speaking, project management and process improvement. Individual must be customer oriented, organized, and able to operate with an orientation toward solutions with an external focus, and team orientation. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws. Must be able to perform all assigned responsibilities under “grey sky” requirements. Ability to work in a matrixed environment and on a team. Travel: Travel will be required. A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required. The salary range for this position is (NYC): $56,800- $58,289. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed.
